2 Kermit Residents Killed in Crash on State Highway 18 in Winkler

Winkler County, Texas (February 3, 2018) – At least two people were killed in a traffic accident in Winker County on Wednesday, January 31.

According to a local news release, the fatal collision occurred at an unspecified time on State Highway 18, near Kermit.

According to a report by DPS, a truck had been attempting to make a U-turn on State Highway 18 when a semi-trailer detached from the truck.

A short time later, a northbound 2014 Dodge crashed into the semi-trailer.

The driver of the van, 70-year-old Barbara Culvell and a 71-year-old passenger, Rodger Culwell, were killed in the collision.

The deceased were both residents of Kermit.

Information on the truck driver was not available at the time of reporting.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
