Brenda Mandieta Killed and Another Injured in Harris County Pedestrian Accident
Harris County, Texas (February 19, 2018) – A teenager was killed in a pedestrian accident which left another person injured in Harris County on Friday, February 16, according to a local news source.
The accident occurred at about 10:00 p.m. in the 12000 block of Veterans Memorial Drive, near Sam Houston Parkway.
Officials of the Harris County Sheriff’s office said that 18-year-old Brenda Mandieta together with her 17-year-old friend were walking across the street when they were hit by a car.
Mandieta sustained major injuries and was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Woodlands where she succumbed to her injuries.
Her friend sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
No word on the motorist was provided.
Although an investigation into the incident is ongoing, the authorities believe the pedestrians were not using a crosswalk.
