Freddie Barnes Killed in Head-On Collision in Polk County

Polk County, Texas (February 18, 2018) – According to a local news source, at least one person was killed in a car accident which left three other people injured in Polk County on Wednesday evening.

The fatal crash occurred at about 7:50 p.m., February 14, on FM 25000 near Livingston.

According to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety, 23-year-old Mikayla Alec of Livingston was driving his Toyota southbound when for unknown reasons, his vehicle drifted into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a Nissan operated by 68-year-old Freddie Barnes, of Lufkin.

Barnes was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Livingston where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Alec and Barnes’ two passengers were also injured in the collision and were taken to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Livingston in unknown conditions.

No other information was provided.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
