Jacob Bates Killed in Elm Mott Car Accident on Interstate 35
Elm Mott, Texas (February 9, 2018) – A West High School senior was killed in rear-end collision in Elm Mott on Thursday night, February 8.
The fatal two-vehicle collision occurred at about 8 p.m. on Interstate 35, according to a local news report.
Officials of the Department of Public Safety said that 18-year-old Jacob Bates was driving a pickup truck southbound on the road when he crashed into the rear of a truck which had slowed due to traffic.
Emergency teams arriving at the scene had to extricate the pickup truck driver from the vehicle before being rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
No other information was provided.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
