Austin, Texas (February 15, 2018) – According to a local news source, a moped rider who was killed in a collision in Central Austin last week on Friday has been identified.

The deadly collision occurred at about 3 a.m. February 9, in the area of Luther Lane and Red River Street.

The police said that Timothy Boykin, 46, had been riding his moped northbound on the road when his bike was struck from behind by a Jeep operated by 21-year-old Olivia Gruwell.

Boykin sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at about 3:15 a.m.

Gruwell drove away from the scene but was later located and arrested.

The police believe the woman was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
