Fighting Fearlessly For Your Rights

Standing Up For The Injured Since 1990

I have built an incredibly successful practice right in the heart of Houston, Texas, where I have helped thousands of clients gain some sort of justice and restitution for their damages. I have been practicing law for more than three decades now and have a reputation that precedes me everywhere I go. I take an aggressive approach to each case because I value what I have worked so hard to build.

My passion is standing up for the rights of others. That is why every single case gets individual, expert attention and guidance from start to finish because that’s the way it should be. I treat each of my clients with the respect that they deserve, and I work hard for every one of them. I run my personal injury practice with a transparency that is apparent and comforting to every client that comes through the door. My clients come in for a consultation and leave with strong, zealous representation.

I have concentrated my practice largely in the area of slip-and-falls and other premises liability accidents. I also handle dog bite injuries, motor vehicle accidents and other selected personal injury claims.

My American Dream

I was born in Nigeria before migrating to the United States as a young boy. My parents instilled in me the deep-rooted principles of hard work, high standards and integrity. The concepts of legislation promoted a love for the law that would be the inspiration for my life’s work. I had absolutely no idea how many lives I would touch and the people I would affect by taking this path. I was only doing what I had always been taught to do, and that was to follow my dreams, do what’s right and stand up for other people who may not be able to stand up for themselves.

Educational Background

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree at the Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University, where I graduated cum laude in 1981. I went on to earn my Master of Business Administration at Texas Southern University, graduating magna cum laude in 1983. From there, I took law school by storm and studied at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. I earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence and graduated cum laude in the class of 1986 before also becoming a certified public accountant. It was also in 1986 that I was admitted to the State Bar of Texas. I went on to be admitted to the U.S. Tax Court, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, among others. I have also earned the title of enrolled agent to the Internal Revenue Service.

Legal Accomplishments

Just a few years after being admitted to the bar, I soon won the landmark case of Carter v. Allstate Insurance Company, where the Court of Appeals held that an oral pre-suit agreement between an injured party and an insurance company is enforceable. I then went on to earn the Top 100 jury verdicts of 2004, winning a $28 Million jury verdict in the 36th District Court for corporate fraud and shareholder oppression. Single-handedly, I won the largest jury verdict in San Patricio County, Texas, earning me this title. I have also earned a diploma in Trial Advocacy Skills from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Additionally, I have earned a James Douglas Moot Court Competition Award.

Community And Professional Memberships

I also hold many communities and professional memberships, each of which remains near and dear to my heart. I am a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Elite Lawyers of America, Lawyers of Distinction and the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys. I have been a long-standing member in good faith of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association of Attorneys and CPAs.

Law Office Of Joseph Onwuteaka, P.C.

I have spent more than three decades learning the laws specific to the state of Texas and many different specialty practice areas. I take great pride in the service I provide to my clients and take each one of them very seriously. I enjoy practicing law and staying up to date on the ever-changing statutes that govern my practice. My belief is that everyone deserves a fair shake and deserves restitution if they have been wronged. I’ve learned many practices for successfully navigating the litigation system, and I enjoy putting them to work for my clients. My integrity is apparent and my motives are honest.

I enjoy playing tennis but do not get to play as much as I would like. I spend most of my time and energy on my practice and my clients because that is where my passion is. Over three decades of experience have given me the personal touch and the expertise to fight fiercely and consistently for my clients and their best interests. My tenacious approach allows me the fortitude to navigate the litigation process on a level that is unmatched.

You Don’t Have To Go Through This Alone

I am always happy to meet with a client and offer a free consultation. Whether you just have a few questions or you’re not sure if you have the grounds for a lawsuit, I will take the time to listen. Too many practices today concentrate on herding people in and out of the doors like cattle with more on the almighty dollar than anything else. I am dedicated to serving my clients with respect and dignity because that is what I have built my practice on. I understand that without my clients, there would be no practice.

I have spent more than three decades studying the practice of law and the many different specialized areas of litigation. I draw from this knowledge and experience to advise my clients with their best interest in mind, and nobody else’s. My motives are genuine and my expertise is apparent in the courtroom. You can trust me to handle all your legal matters so that you can move on with your life.
